Huh?
Mayor Eric Adams of NYC and Mayor Muriel Bowser of Washington, D. C. held press conferences to express their anger that the Texas governor bussed illegal border crossers to their cities. At a distance, the resident border citizens’ problems with illegal aliens, the unseen deaths of tens of thousands by fentanyl, and the crimes committed by illegal aliens seemed to be meaningless until the problem became a personal one.
Shipped by plane by the federal government at night to New York and now in the day by bus by the government of Texas, the illegal migrants are suddenly a personal problem for the people in “sanctuary cities,” and the border crisis has become meaningful. What happens elsewhere is one thing. What happens in my place is another, eh?
That which is personal is meaningful.
